Gamaliel Valdés Román, known as 'the surgeon of the stars,' has been accused by several people of performing cosmetic surgeries that ruined their lives. Despite the accusations against him, the surgeon has decided to offer a buy one get one free promotion for Buen Fin 2024, taking advantage of the sales season in Mexico to announce procedures at more accessible prices.
Among the offers he has promoted on social media is a 'benign cheek reduction' for only two thousand Mexican pesos and a 'Lipo' in 3 areas for a cost of $13,999. The promotion also includes liposuction of the abdomen, waist, and lower back, transfer to the buttocks, two postoperative massages, and sedation.
Despite the tempting offers, some people express concern about the safety of undergoing procedures with the surgeon of the stars due to the negligence accusations against him. One victim paid 92 thousand pesos for a poorly performed liposuction and developed a necrotic sore, putting her life at risk.
After the incident, the Tanning Spa clinic where the operation took place was closed by Cofepris, and a partial refund was made to the victim. Despite this, Gamaliel Valdés decided to reopen his establishment and launch the Buen Fin 2024 promotions.
In light of this controversy, Cofepris recommends that people considering cosmetic surgeries verify if the establishment has a health license, as well as ensure that the doctor in charge is specialized in plastic surgery and holds valid certifications.
